B-class cultures

The third day in Köln. When I come to a foreign country I always look for a McDonald shop, a convenience store, and the comic corner in a bookshop. There are many McDonalds in this town, but they do not paint their gates red, keeping the old buildings as they are. Interestingly, I can find no single convenience store. I wonder why the people here refused such a 24-hour-open shops.
I predicted that Japanese comics were not popular in Germany. But again they occupy a certain space in the bookstores, similar to the cases in USA and in Korea. I felt a little happy to find the series of Monster by Naoki Urasawa, because it means that his excellent description of Germany is being accepted by German readers.
